Shortcut: A:ADMIN

Administrators (commonly known as sysops or admins) on the AoPS Wiki have special privileges that are not granted to ordinary users.

Admin Abilities

Administrators have powerful one-click rollback abilities, allowing them to quickly revert the previous user’s edits. This rollback function is typically used to revert vandalism. If a rollback is made to undo a legitimate edit, however, it’s important that an appropriate edit summary is provided to avoid misuse of admin privileges.

Admins also have the ability to permanently delete articles, and they can restore deleted pages when necessary. Additionally, administrators can move articles, even replacing existing ones by deleting the target page beforehand.

Administrators can access Special:UnwatchedPages, a list of articles that are not being monitored by any users. This helps minimize potential damage caused by vandals. They also have access to other special pages designed for site maintenance.

Another key ability is page protection. Articles subject to frequent vandalism or disputes can be locked to prevent editing. Administrators can semi-protect pages, restricting editing to registered users (banning new users from editing those pages). They can also fully protect pages, restricting editing to other administrators only. Similar protections are available for preventing page moves to guard against page-move vandalism.

Additionally, administrators can block or ban users. A block restricts users from editing most of the wiki (except their user page and talk page), while a ban completely prevents users from logging in.

Typically, the administrators of the AoPS forums and selected moderators on the AoPS forums are the administrators of the wiki.

Bureaucrats

Shortcut: A:BUREAU

A bureaucrat is a special type of administrator with the exclusive ability to promote users to sysop or bureaucrat status. Bureaucrats are typically forum administrators who have these extended permissions on the AoPS Wiki.

Bureaucrats also have access to Special:Userrights, where they can modify user permissions.
