My Algebra 1 teacher says that 0.999999.... does not equal 1 but guess what... I have 3 proofs for this!!!

  1

x = 0.9999...

10x = 9.9999...

-x -.9999...

9x = 9

x = 1

1 = 0.9999...

  2
       .99999999
  _____________
1| 1.0000000000
       9
       ___________
       1
         9
         _________
Thus, 1/1 equals .9999...

  3

1/3 = .3333....
