Korean Mathematical Olympiad
The Korean Mathematical Olympiad (KMO) is the national mathematical olympiad of South Korea.
Format of the Competition
The KMO consists of two stages (Stage I and Stage II). Only individuals who obtained a Hon. Men. or higher (Bronze for JKMO) in the Stage I are qualified to progress to Stage II.
The KMO Stage I (commonly referred to as KMO Qualifiers outside of Korea) is a 150-minute, 20 questions exam where all answers are intergers ranging from

, while the KMO Stage II (commonly referred to as KMO outside of Korea) is a 6-hour, 8 questions exam where all problems require full written solutions. Those who achieve a certain amount of score in the KMO Stage II (not JKMO) are qualified to progress to the FKMO (KMO Finals), which is a direct selection process for the Korean IMO team.
Scoring
In the KMO Stage I, there are 4 4-point problems, 12 5-point problems, and 4 6-point problems, totaling up to 100 points for a perfect score.
In the KMO Stage II, scoring on each problem is done on a 0-7 scale (inclusive and integers only). Full credit is only given for complete, correct solutions. Each solution is intended to be in the form of a mathematical proof. Since there are 8 problems, a perfect score is 56 points.
