Problem

The expression $2 + (0 \times 2^2)$ is equal to

$\text{ (A) }\ 1 \qquad\text{ (B) }\ 2 \qquad\text{ (C) }\ 4 \qquad\text{ (D) }\ 5 \qquad\text{ (E) }\ 6$

Solution

Following order of operations, we have:

$2 + (0 \times 2^2) = 2 + (0 \times 4) = 2 + 0 = \boxed {\textbf {(B) } 2}$
