Problem

Zara's bicycle tire has a circumference of $1.5$m. If Zara travels $900$m on her bike, how many full rotations will her tire make?

$\textbf{(A)}\ 900 \qquad\textbf{(B)}\ 1350 \qquad\textbf{(C)}\ 600 \qquad\textbf{(D)}\ 450 \qquad\textbf{(E)}\ 1200$

Solution 1

We can first break down what the problem is asking for. Since the circumference is $1.5$ m, each full rotation will be $1.5$ m.

Thus, we can divide the distance that Zara travels on her bike by the meters in each full rotation:

$900 \div 1.5 = 900 \div \frac{3}{2} = 900 \times \frac{2}{3} = \boxed {\textbf {(C) } 600}$
