Which vehicle would travel the farthest using $50$ litres of fuel? $\text{ (A) }\ U \qquad\text{ (B) }\ V \qquad\text{ (C) }\ W \qquad\text{ (D) }\ X \qquad\text{ (E) }\ Y$

Solution

To figure out which vehicle would travel the farthest, we would want to see which vehicle uses the least amount of fuel per $100$ km, according to the bar graph. Less fuel consumption means that the vehicle can travel farther for equal amounts of fuel in general, assuming that the rate at which fuel is consumed is constant.

Using the bar graph, we can observe that the vehicle that uses less fuel than the other vehicles is vehicle $\boxed {\textbf {(D) } X}$.
